D i s c u s s i o n: As recommended by Cleal and Rees (2003) the genus Masculostrobus is used for microsporangiate cones of uncertain family ( Grauvogel-Stamm and Schaarschmidt 1978, 1979). Specimens from Maletín are preserved as impressions in sandstone and do not contain any pollen; therefore their affinities remain dubious.
