Stål (1872) provided no type locality in the original description, giving only “ Patria ignota ”, whereas Maldonado (1976) indicated that he studied the type, labelled with “Amazon”. Heza ventralis is easily diagnosed among Heza by having all connexiva unarmed and possessing extensive broad whitish areas laterally on the venter.
