Dasymutilla rutiliventris (André)

Mutilla (Ephuta) rutiliventris André, 1898 . Ann. Ent. Soc. Fr. 67:58. Lectotype male, Mexico [MNHN] (examined).

Diagnosis of Male. This species has sternum II plain, lacking both a pit densely filled with setae and a median area of fine, close punctures each bearing a seta. It also lacks an apical fringe of setae on the pygidium. The dorsum of the metasoma is clothed entirely with red setae. The integument is not entirely black. The integument of the metasoma is ferruginous, except that both the first and last segments are black.

Female. Unknown.

Distribution. Mexico (Jalisco, Sonora).

Remarks. This species is known only from the male and keys very easily. It is known from only two specimens, both of which have been examined.
