Foveocrotaphus View in CoL new genus
Type species Foveocrotaphus burmanicus , n. sp., by monotypy.
Diagnosis. In many character states similar to genus Physocrotaphus Parry , with the single species ( P. ceylonicus Parry, 1849 ) from Sri Lanka, in particular with respect to shape and structure of ligula and paraglossae ( Fig. 5). The two genera can be diagnosed easily by median tooth of mentum, bifid in Physocrotaphus , i.e. Foveocrotaphus gen. n. has simple, narrow and pointed. Is easely distinguishable from all other described genera by narrower pronotum, very stout ligula and by male sternites 2 and 3 with one big shared median depression, with dense cluster of long filamentous setae. For detailed description see the description of the single species, F. burmanicus sp. nov., below. Etymology. Named after the two deep foveae behind eyes (fovea = round depression, crotaph = the temples). Distribution. Known from northernmost point of Myanmar.
