Obrium sp.: Di Iorio, 1996c.

Description. Male holotype. Integument mostly yellowish-brown, except for elytral bands and following somewhat dark brown areas: frons and part of dorsum of head; scape, pedicel; apex of antennomeres III-XI; anterior margin of pronotum, and behind dark band bordering; one longitudinal band on each side of pronotum, from anterior to posterior margin; inferior suface of pro- and mesofemora clubs; base of metafemoral club; metatibiae and metatarsi; meso- and metasternum; sparse setae-bearing punctures on dorsal surface of elytra; line of smaller punctures on epipleuron.

Elytral dark areas disposed as follows: first band transverse, placed slightly behind scutellum, from suture to epipleural margin; second band subparallel to first, slightly oblique from lateral margin to near suture, then strongly oblique backward toward suture; first and second bands merge together along epipleuron; Subtriangular macula placed after middle, from suture to epipleural margin (projected forward along epipleural margin),; fourth band preapical, curved, with convexity directed backward, from suture to epipleural margin, where it is fused to the projection of subtriangular macula.

Elytra somewhat widened toward the apical area.

Holotype measurements (in mm): maximal width of pronotum: 1.14; length of prothorax: 1.20; humeral width: 1.32; maximal width of elytra: 1.68; elytral length: 3.66; total length: 5.46.

Type material: ARGENTINA: Entre Ríos: Liebig , 8-I-1997 (L), Di Iorio leg., 7 specimens. Paratypes ; Liebig , no date, Zelich leg., 1 specimens Paratype ( MZER) ; Federación , 1-IV-2002, Zubarán leg., 1 specimens Paratype ( GZSM) ; Buenos Aires: Pereyra , 20-IX-1992 (L), Di Iorio leg., 1 specimens Holotype ( MACN), 7 specimens. Paratypes ( MACN), 4 specimens Paratypes ( ODI) .

Taxonomic discussion: resembling Obrium trilobatum sp. nov. by the pattern of dark elytral bands, but the two species can be distinguished by large and wide scores in O. mimicum , and small and narrow in O. trilobatum , and the shape of the second and third elitral bands.

Host plants: Acacia bonariensis Gill. ex Hook. et Arn. (branches girdled by Oncideres germarii Thomson, 1868 ), and Parkinsonia aculeate L. (dead standing tree) ( Di Iorio, 1996c).
