Type material. Male holotype from Belém (2°07’40.69”S; 54°50’54.38”W), Pará, Brazil deposited in MNHN 6099.
Etymology. The specific name, a noun in apposition, is a tribute to the people that lived the city of Feliz Lusitânia (currently the city of Belém) in the 17th century, during the colonial period.
Diagnosis. Males of Xiruana lusitania n. sp. differ from those of all other species in the genus by the conductor of Anyphaeninae with a spatulated apex and by the short median tibial apophysis ( Figs 12 View FIGURE 12 A, D–F).
Description. Male (MNHN 6099). Coloration as in X. hirsuta . Total length 5.6, carapace length 2.7, width 2.1. Clypeus height 0.08. Eye diameters and interdistances: AME 0.1, ALE 0.1, PME 0.12, PLE 0.1; AME–AME 0.06, AME–ALE 0.04, PME– PME 0.12, PME–PLE 0.08, ALE–PLE 0.02. Chelicerae 1.3 long, with four promarginal teeth and five retromarginal denticles. Leg measurements: Leg I—femur 2.4/ patella 1.0/ tibia 2.5/ metatarsus 2.2/ tarsus 1.0/ total 9.0; II—2.1/ 1.0/ 2.0/ 1.7/ 0.7/ 7.5; III—1.6/ 0.7/ 1.2/ 1.8/ 0.4/ 5.7; IV—2.4/ 0.9/ 2.0/ 2.5/ 0.6/ 8.4. Leg spination: I—tibia p1-0-1, r0, metatarsus p0, r0; II—tibia v1-2 -2, p0-1-1, r0, metatarsus v2-1 -0, p0, r0; IIItibia p1-0-1, r0-1-1; IV—tibia p1-1-1, r1-1-1. Palp: retrolateral tibial apophysis anterior branch very small and slender; posterior branch long and curved at tip; median apophysis narrowed at tip, without distal dilatation ( Figs 12 View FIGURE 12 D–F). Abdomen: length 2.9, epigastric furrow 0.6 from tracheal spiracle, spiracle 1.4 from base of spinnerets. Female: Unknown.
Other material examined. Only the holotype.
Distribution. Known only from Belém, Pará, Brazil ( Fig. 15 View FIGURE 15 B).
