Brachysomus erinaceus View in CoL group

In species of this group the body is brown or dark-brown in colouration, with the antennae and legs yellow. The eyes are moderately convex, with their surface not developed into a distinct angle with the lateral surfaces of the head capsule. The body is covered with dense or sparse, oval or lanceolate, slightly metallic scales, and long, narrow, light, strongly erect setae. The scape of the antennae is clavate, swollen at the apical third.

This species group includes three species, two of them, B. setiger and B. villosulus , very widely distributed, inhabiting montane and submontane forests in Central Europe. The third species, B. hegyessyi has a local range in the Great Hungarian Plain.
