( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 , 2 View FIGURE 2 A–C, 3, 4A–C, 5A, 6A–B, 18B, 19A)

Distoleon sambalpurensis Ghosh, 1984: 50 View in CoL . Type locality: India (Odisha).

Distoleon subtentus Yang, 1986: 427 View in CoL . Type locality: China (Yunnan). Synonymized by Kaur et al., 2019: 587.

Diagnosis. General body coloration of this species is brownish black with yellow markings. It can be distinguished from other Distoleon species by white longitudinal stripes on both wings. Moreover, the forewing has distinct cubital mark and distal part with four brown spots, two distad hypostigmatic cell, and two at initial branching point of MA. Distal part of hind wing has an L-shaped marking at marginal fork of MP1, but with brown spots distad hypostigmatic cell indistinct ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ).

Measurement (♀ n=1; unit mm). Forewing length 32.5, width 5.9; hind wing length 31.4, width 5.2; body length 25.5.

Re-description. Head. Face yellow with a black stripe around the base of antennal toruli; interantennal marking distinct, yellowish white, with black setae on each side. Frons yellow, covered with short black setae ( Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2 ). Vertex raised, dark brown, with two longitudinal yellow stripes, posterior stripe interrupted at middle, covered with short brown setae. Occiput with crown-shaped yellow marking ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ). Antennae longer than length of head and prothorax combined; clavate; toruli yellowish white; scape and pedicel shiny black but orange apically; flagellomeres annulated with brown and whitish rings, covered with short black setae except a few basal segments with white setae ( Figs 2B View FIGURE 2 , 4C View FIGURE 4 ). Maxillary and labial palps, labrum, clypeus, gena and face yellow; labrum with brown, erect setae; clypeus with long yellowish brown and black setae. Labial palpi with distal palpomere spindle-shaped with an acute apex, palpimacula brownish, small and circular, narrowed basally ( Figs 2B View FIGURE 2 , 5A View FIGURE 5 ).

Thorax. Brownish black ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ). Pronotum narrow, slightly broader than long, with a narrow median and slightly wider lateral longitudinal yellow stripes ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ); pronotum covered with black setae, except on median portion. Mesonotum brownish black, with a narrow median yellow stripe, lateral margins with yellow markings. Metanotum with a median, indistinct yellowish stripe and two shiny black spots on lateral margins of metascutum. Thoracic pleurites dark brown, covered with long white setae except a few black setae at base of forewing ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ).

Legs. Foreleg. Coxa yellowish white, posterolaterally brownish black, covered with long yellow setae. Trochanter yellowish. Femur yellowish white, posterolaterally dark brown, covered mostly with short, white setae and a few long, black setae, femoral sense hair slightly shorter than fore femora. Tibia yellowish white with disperse black dots at setal bases, covered with black and white setae, tibial spurs brown, as long as tarsomeres 1–4. Tarsomeres yellowish white, dark apically, last tarsal segment as long as tarsomeres 1–4. Middle leg. Coxa dark brown, covered with long yellow setae. Trochanter yellowish. Femur yellowish white, with black dots at setal bases, covered with black and white setae, femoral sense hair slightly shorter than fore femora. Tibia yellowish white, with disperse black dots at setal bases, covered with black and white setae, tibial spurs brown, as long as tarsomeres 1–4. Tarsomeres yellowish white, dark apically, last tarsal segment as long as tarsomeres 1–4. Hind leg. Coxa dark brown, covered with long yellow setae. Trochanter yellowish. Femur yellowish white, posterolaterally dark brown, covered mostly with short, white setae and a few long, black setae. Tibia yellowish white, with disperse black dots at setal bases, covered with black setae, ventrally narrow brownish line, tibial spurs brown, as long as tarsomeres 1–3 ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ).

Wings. Relatively narrow, acutely pointed at apex ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ), membrane hyaline with white longitudinal stripes, veins with alternate sections of black with many yellow stripes, covered with short black sparse setae. Forewing with nine presectoral crossveins; Rs diverged from R beyond cubital fork; Rs with 11 branches; pterostigma yellow distally, brown basally; cubital mark oblique, brownish black; distal part of forewing with four brown spots, two distad of hypostigmatic cell, two at initial branching point of MA. Hind wing with one presectoral crossvein; Rs diverged from R beyond cubital fork; Rs with 11 branches; pterostigma yellow, brown basally; distal part of hind wing with L-shaped marking at marginal fork of MP1, but with brown spots distad of hypostigmatic cell indistinct.

Abdomen. Brownish black with yellow markings, covered with short black and white setae. Posterior margin of each abdominal tergum narrowly yellow, terga 3–7 with yellow spot. Female genitalia ( Figs 6 View FIGURE 6 A–B): Tergum 8 nearly quadrate; gonocoxite 8 short, digitiform, covered with long black setae; tergum 9 triangular shape; gonocoxite 9 club-shaped, distally covered with short, and robust digging setae; ectoprocts oval, covered with long bristles and digging setae.
