Type:— SENEGAL. “Goree Island”, “prope Kounoum ad Peninsulam Promotorri” G.S. Perrottet s.n. (syntypes: P not seen) and Gambia. “Albreda”. G.S. Perrottet s.n. (syntype not located).

Subshrub 1 m high; branches finely pubescent. Internodal stem wings absent. Leaves 3-foliolate, digitate, petioles 1.5– 5.6 cm long; leaflets oblanceolate to obovate, 2–4 × 0.7–1.3 cm, puberulous above and glabrescent beneath; stipules (0.5–) 0.9–1.9 cm long, persistent, foliaceous. Inflorescence a raceme, 3.8–14.5 cm long, terminal; peduncles 0.5–1.5 cm long. Flowers 5–20, pedicels 2–5 mm long, bracts 2–3 mm long, subulate, persistent, early caducous; bracteoles 1–2 mm long, subulate, caduceus; calyx 4–5 mm long, with 5 lobes subequals, lobes larger than the tube, pubescent; corolla yellow; the standard petal 8–9 × 7 mm; wing petals 8–9 cm long; keel petals 8–9 cm long, lanate on the upper margin, untwisted; ovary 3–5 mm long, subsessile; style curved. Legumes 1.3–2 × 0.7–0.9 cm, oblong, puberulous, brown at maturity, ca. 9-seeded; seeds 3 × 3 mm, seed coat orange or red.

Distribution and Ecology: — Crotalaria goreensis is native to tropical Africa. The species is cultivated in Brazil and it can be rarely be found also in disturbed areas.
