Brazil, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru ( Mantilleri, 2010, 2012). Stereodermus nigriceps Sharp, 1895 .

Previously known from Guatemala and Mexico ( Mantilleri & Sforzi, 2006).

In USNM: 1 ex., Madre de Dios, Rio Tambopata Res . , 30 air km SW Pto Maldonado, 290m, 6–10.XI.1979, J.B. Heppner, subtropical moist forest. This is a new country record for this species supposed to occur only in Central America .
