Type material. Holotype female [ MLPA], on slide labeled: " ARGENTINA: La Rioja, Santa Cruz, 1700 m, MT, 6.x.–5.xi.2001, P. Fidalgo. Mounted at UCR/ERM by V. V. Berezovskiy 2006 in Canada balsam". The type locality (Santa Vera Cruz, 28°40’42.7’’S 66°57’50.4’’W, 1660 m) is near (N of) Anillaco. Paratypes: ARGENTINA. Buenos Aires, Moreno, 34°08’57’’S 58°46’57’’W, 22.vii.2005, C. Coviella [1 female on slide, UCRC]. La Rioja: Chuquis, 28°53’40’’S 67°00’31’’W, 1575 m, 17.iii.2003, J. Munro [1 female on point and 1 female on slide, UCRC]. Santa Vera Cruz, 28°40’42.7’’S 66°57’50.4’’W, 1660 m, 14.ii.2000, C. Porter, P. Fidalgo [1 male on card and 1 male on slide, UCRC].

Description. FEMALE (holotype and paratypes). Body length 925–1023 (dry-mounted paratypes). Body mostly dark brown to black except petiole light brown to brown. Appendages dark brown except scape, protibia, and apical tarsomeres brown, pedicel light brown to brown, and apex of profemur and basal 3 tarsal segments light brown.

Antenna ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 11 – 13 ) with scape and pedicel sparsely setose; flagellum more densely so. Scape excluding radicle 3.1–3.2 x as long as wide and smooth; pedicel smooth, longer than F1; F2 the longest funicular segment, a little longer than F3; F4 about as long as F5; F5 slightly longer than F6; F6 the widest funicular segment; all funicular segments without longitudinal sensilla; clava 2.4–2.9 x as long as wide, longer than combined length of three preceding segments, with 7 longitudinal sensilla.

Mesosoma ( Fig.12 View FIGURES 11 – 13 ) 1.5–1.7 x as long as wide; mesonotum smooth except mesoscutum with a faint cellulate sculpture. Pronotum divided mediolongitudinally, each lobe with 2 dorsal and 6 lateral setae; mesoscutum wider than long (1.6–1.7:1); axillar seta short and weak; scutellum wider than long (about 1.4:1), scutellar placoid sensilla a little closer to anterior margin of scutellum than to row of frenal foveae; propodeum with conspicuous transverse wrinkles (striations) and two short, incomplete submedial carinae at posterior margin.

Wings. Forewing ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 11 – 13 ) 3.1–3.2 x as long as wide; marginal vein elongate, with 2 dorsal macrochaetae; disc slightly infumate, almost hyaline, densely setose beyond venation; longest marginal seta about 2/5 greatest forewing width. Hind wing about 19 x as long as wide; disc almost hyaline, with a complete row of setae along each margin (not counting long and short marginal setae) and several scattered setae on apical half; longest marginal seta 2.7–2.8 x greatest width of disc.

Legs. Protibia with 3, 4, or 5 conical sensilla; metacoxa smooth, a little shorter than petiole.

Metasoma. Petiole 2.4–3.0 x as long as wide. Ovipositor about as long as gaster, a little exserted beyond gastral apex (by about 1/10 of total length of ovipositor); ovipositor length:metatibia length ratio 1.1–1.2:1.

Measurements (holotype). Mesosoma: 424; petiole: 147; gaster: 424; ovipositor: 406. Antenna: scape: 103; pedicel: 67; F1: 45; F2: 79; F3: 70; F4: 45; F5: 45; F6: 42; clava: 155. Forewing: 1082:344; longest marginal seta: 117. Hind wing: 898:43; longest marginal seta: 117.

MALE. Body length 924 (dry-mounted paratype). Similar to female except for the normal sexually dimorphic features. Antenna ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 14, 15 ) with scape about as long as or slightly shorter than flagellomeres. Forewing 3.0 x as long as wide; longest marginal seta about 1/3 greatest forewing width. Genitalia ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 14, 15 ) typical for the subgenus P. ( Doriclytus ) ( Triapitsyn & Fidalgo 2006).

Diagnosis. In addition to the characters mentioned in the key, P. (D.) nupogodi sp. n. differs from P. (D.) pallidiventre , the only other known species of the pallidiventre species group of P. ( Doriclytus ), in the considerably darker coloration of the female body and appendages (males are not known for the latter species).

Notably, the scape and pedicel are brown in P. (D.) nupogodi whereas in P. (D.) pallidiventre , they are light brown; leg segments (except for the tarsi) are mostly dark brown in P. (D.) nupogodi but mostly light brown in P. (D.) pallidiventre .

Etymology. The specific name is treated as a noun in apposition; it refers to the famous cartoon serial for the children ("Nu, pogodi!" [in Russian; English translation: Just You Wait!]) in the former Soviet Union. Hosts. Unknown.
