Genus Mireana Park View in CoL , gen. nov.

Type species: Miraena tawitawiensis Park & Kim , sp. nov. Type locality: Tawi Tawi , the Philippines

Diagnosis. The genus Mireana Park & Kim is more or less similar to the monotypic genus Caveana Park, 2010 which was described from Thailand in the forewing pattern, but it can be distinguished from the latter by the very unique venation of wings, with lack of R 1, and R 5. M 3 and CuA1 coincident on the forewing, whereas in the latter, M 3, CuA 1 and CuA 2 are on common stalk. The absence or presence of R 5 on the forewing in the family Lecithoceridae is not proper for a diagnostic character for a genus, but the absence of R 1 on the forewing can be an unique main character distinguishing the new genus from Torodora and its related genera. Also the combination of the diagnostic characters including the extremely long antenna, the pale to light-yellow forewing ground color, the unusually thickened and elongated the 2nd segment of labial palpus; and the venation with R 5 absent, M 3 and CuA 1 coincident, can provide a corroborative character for a new genus. The male genitalia are similar to those of Torodora Meyrick and its related genera, including Thubana Walker , Deltoplastis Meyrick , or Caveana Park , but can also be distinguished by the uncus broadly elongated with truncate apex in the new genus, whereas it narrowly elongated in the other abovementioned genera.

Etymology. The generic name is derived from a Korean term, mirae, meaning future.
