3.3. Cymodocea View in CoL (4, Cymodoceaceae, West African, Canary Islands, and Mediterranean coasts)

Investigations of Cymodocea nodosa collected off the coast of Greece yielded phenylheptanoids 104–107 ( Kontiza et al., 2005, 2008) as well as ketosteroids 148–151 ( Kontiza et al., 2006). Moreover, Kontiza et al. (2008) found the meroterpenoid 108 and the brominated briarane diterpene 119 in Cymodocea nodosa .

Grignon-Dubois and Rezzonico (2013) found high amounts of cichoric acid 36 in detrital and fresh specimens of Cymodocea nodosa ( Cymodoceaceae ) from the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. Leaves contained much higher amounts of 36 than rhizomes, 8.13 to 27.44 mg/g and 0.31–3.70 mg/g dry plant material, respectively.
