Konow described this species from both sexes but did not designate a holotype and did not state how many specimens he examined. One male and one female labelled “TYPUS” are at SDEI. Oehlke and Wudowenz (1894) indicated that syntypes were at SDEI. The female labelled “Marcapata, Peru,” “ Coll. Konow,” “TYPUS” is hereby designated the Lectotype. The male from “Vilcanota, Peru ” may not be part of the type series, even though labelled “TYPUS” since Konow did not mention this locality.

Host: We reared some larvae feeding on the fern Asplenium auritum (Aspieniaceae) in Caquetá, Colombia.

Comments: The Lectotype specimen lacks the pink coloration on upper episternum and tegula. We found that after several hours of rinsing the specimen in ethanol the pink color changed to white. To conserve the pink coloration it is necessary to rinse it in ethanol only for a few minutes before it is pinned.
