Euplexaura koothankuliensis Fernando, 2011 (species status uncertain)
Euplexaura koothankuliensis Fernando, 2011: 38–39 , pl. 16, fig. 2–2f (Koothankuli); Fernando et al. 2017: 77, pl. 31, fig. A–D (Koothankuli).
Opinion: This species does occur in the region but its true generic identity is unknown.
Justification:
Literature analysis: The accounts of Fernando (2011) and Fernando et al. (2017) are identical, but without detailed descriptions and more images of the sclerites it is not possible to tell what genus their material belongs in. From the small description and the images, it does not appear to represent a species of Euplexaura . Considering the colony form and the sclerites, which seem to include large thick spindles with tubercles in girdles that can have the ornamentation more developed on one side than the other, the specimen appears to be related to the genus Leptogorgia .
