Opinion: This species does occur in the region.

Justification:

Literature analysis: When Thomson and Henderson (1906) described Acamptogorgia bebrycoides (see above), they also erected a new variety, Acamptogorgia bebrycoides var. robusta . Although they did not figure the sclerites of either, their description and the illustrations of the colony and polyps indicate the variety represents a species in its own right. Kükenthal (1924) raised the taxon to that level and transferred it to the genus Perisceles , a synonym of Villogorgia .
