Viminella verrucosa ( Simpson, 1910) View in CoL
Scirpearia verrucosa Simpson, 1910: 316–317 View in CoL , fig. 32&33 (Andamans).
Opinion: This species does occur in the region.
Justification:
Literature analysis: This species was established by Simpson under the original name of Scirpearia verrucosa , stating that “The spicules (fig. 33) of this species are extremely characteristic; they are covered with long papillose warts, which are for the most part widely separated, and so give a very irregular outline to the spicules. The ends of the elongated double-clubs and double-spindles are markedly pointed, and have the form of elongated cones”, but the species will still be difficult to recognise unless the holotype is redescribed. Rao & Devi (2003) just list the species using the old original binomial.
