Type species. Cyproidia View in CoL [sic] ornata Haswell, 1879 by subsequent designation ( Barnard 1969).

Emended diagnosis. Body subglobular in lateral view but flattened laterally. Pereonites and pleonites smooth, with pereonites 3–4 enlarged, pleonite 3 unproduced posterodorsally. Urosomites free, urosomite 1 unkeeled, posterodorsal end of urosomite 3 strongly projected. Antenna 1 stout; peduncular article 2 dorsally crested, distal end distinctly toothed; primary flagellum short, with 6–9 articles. Antenna 2 slender; flagellum short, with 3–4 articles. Upper lip incised, asymmetrical. Mandible, molar reduced; palp slender, with 3 articles. Maxilla 1, inner plate medium-sized to small; outer plate with 6–8 distal robust setae; palp 1-articulated, with several robust setae apically. Maxilliped, outer plate feeble; palp stout, consisting of 4 articles, article 3 with small apicodistal process. Coxae 1–2 very small, hidden by coxa 3, coxae 3–4 immensely broadened, coxa 5 short and wide, coxae 6–7 also very small; gills present on coxae 2–6, oostegites of female present on coxae 2–5. Gnathopod 1 large, subchelate, propodus large, palm very oblique, dactylus narrow; gnathopod 2 large, subchelate (or carpochelate), posterodistal corner of carpus strongly protruded, palm almost transverse, dactylus narrow. Pereopods 3–7 elongate, slender, bases of pereopods 5–7 rectolinear. Pleopods 1–3, peduncles long, each with 2 coupling hooks; inner rami almost same length as outer. Uropods biramous, slender; both rami of uropods 1–2 extending subequally, inner ramus of uropod 3 longer than outer. Telson entire, short, reaching middle of uropod 3 peduncle.
