Distribution in Iran. East Azarbaijan ( Hoffmann 1968 as Apion aenum ; Nikdel 2015), Golestan ( Legalov et al. 2010 as Apion (Aspidapion) aeneum ; Ghahari & Colonnelli 2012), Isfahan, Qazvin ( Yarmand et al. 2006 as Apion aeneum ), Kerman, Khuzestan, Sistan & Baluchestan ( Borumand 1998 as Apion (Aspidapion) aeneum ; Legalov et al. 2010; Modarres Awal 2012), Qom ( Borumand 1998; Legalov et al. 2010; Modarres Awal 2012), Tehran ( Borumand 1998 as Apion (Aspidapion) aeneum ; Yarmand et al. 2006 as Apion aeneum ; Legalov et al. 2010), Northern Khorasan ( Hoseini & Dousti 2015), Yazd ( Zare Khormizi et al. 2016), Iran (no exact locality cited) ( Hoffmann 1968 as Apion aeneum ; Giusto 2011 as Aspidapion (Koestlinia) motschulskyi Hochhuth, 1847 ).

New material examined. Ardabil province, Ardabil (Khoshkehrood), N 36°81’ E 48°53’, 1♂, 23.vi.2009, leg. A. Atamehr, E. Colonnelli collection ; Golestan province, “Astrabad” [=Gorgan], vi.1895, 1♂, 1♀, leg. Hauser, E. Colonnelli collection .

General distribution. Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Morocco, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, European Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.

Plant associations in Iran. Malvaceae ( Modarres Awal 2012) , Astragalus caspicus M. Bieb. (Fabaceae) (Nikdel 2015), Ulmus minor minor Mill. (= U. umbraculifera (Trautv.) Ziel. ) ( Ulmaceae ) ( Zare Khormizi et al. 2016). The last two plant records are occasional.
