Emended diagnosis. Chiton small, elongate oval, front intermediate valves usually longer than posterior ones; hind edge of the intermediate valves noticeably turned down which makes lateral areas narrow, appearing strongly raised. Tegmentum sculptured with flattened or convex triangular granules slightly overlapping each other, quincuncially arranged. Each granule is connected to the four nearest granules by narrow jumpers forming a lacy pattern. Apophyses short, triangular, medially connected by a short jugal plate, without slits. Slit formula many/1/many. Girdle moderately narrow, dorsally covered with small, thin, short, strongly bent, regularly imbricating scales. Each scale dorsally with short longitudinal ribs or spherules or both. Radula with 52–102 rows of mature teeth; central tooth narrow with slightly widened base, usually with ribbed shaft; head of major lateral tooth unicuspid and sickle-shaped.
