Nothactinolaimus Loof, 1973

With general structures of the “ Paractinolaimus ” genus group. Further characters: Body 2.5–2.6 mm long. Lip region practically continuous with adjacent body. Labial chamber wider than dental chamber, the latter slightly ribbed and without denticles. Onchia with simple apex. Odontostyle somewhat longer than labial diameter. Pharynx enlarged anterior to its middle. Vulva longitudinal. Ventromedial supplements numerous, 16–19, contiguous. Copulatory hump present. Male pre-rectum beginning well anterior to the series of supplements. Female tail long, 11–13 anal body diameters, dorsally hooked on tip.

Type species. Nothactinolaimus lacustris Loof, 1973 .

Loof, when he described the type species from Surinam, South America, said: “The systematic position of this genus is uncertain. Except of the absence of pharyngeal denticles it agrees in every respect with Paractinolaimus Meyl, 1957 ”. Andrássy (1976) synonymized Loof’s genus with Egtitus , and Vinciguerra (1988) accepted this opinion. On the basis of its morphological structures I now prefer to regard Nothactinolaimus as a valid genus.

Nothactinolaimus is closely related to Paractinolaimus Meyl, 1957 and Egtitus Thorne, 1967 . It differs from the former by the adenticulated dental chamber and the presence of a copulatory hump, from the latter by the numerous contiguous supplements, presence of a copulatory hump, long male pre-rectum and long female tail with hooked end.
