Diagnosis. this species, along with T. bolivianus , are the only two in the genus exhibiting a bicolored dorsum (reddish forebody and blue-black elytra) and reddish scutellum, head and antennae. The single specimen of T. latus has anteriorly divergent lateral pronotal margins and relatively parallel-sided elytra, while the pronotum of T. bolivianus is widest about midlength, and the elytra are distinctly ovate.

Description. TL 5.00 mm; GEW 2.00 mm. Measurements (in mm): HL = 0.88; PL = 0.92; EL = 3.20; GHW = 1.28; GPW = 1.48; GEW = 2.00. Ratios: EL/GEW = 1.60; GPW/PL = 1.61; TL/GEW = 2.50; GPW/PL = 1.16. With characters of Thisiomorphus , and the following:

Body moderately elongate (TL/GEW 2.50), lateral elytral margins slightly arcuate.

Color. Antennae and maxillary palpi uniformly testaceous; head, pronotum and scutellum concolorous, rufous; elytra piceous, with very slightly blue metallic lustre; legs uniformly rufo-testaceous; venter rufous, slightly darker than legs.

Antennae relatively short; antennomeres 3–7 short, subfiliform; antennomeres 8–10 short, indistinctly widened distally.

Pronotum distinctly wider than long (GPW/PL 1.61), slightly wider than head (GPW/GHW 1.16); lateral margins slightly arcuate, maximum width anterior of midlength; dorsal surface relatively flat, without depressions.

Male genitalia unknown.

Distribution. The holotype is from BRAZIL (Mato Grosso do Sul).
