Deltoplastis spatuliunca Wang et Yu View in CoL , sp. nov.

( Figs 8 View FIGURES 1–8 , 15 View FIGURES 9–15 , 20 View FIGURES 16–20 )

Type material. MALAYSIA: Holotype ♂, Mt. Trusmadi , Sabah, 1223 m, 6–8.II.2018, leg. Mujie Qi, slide No. YS 18034.

Paratypes. 1♂, 1♀, same data as holotype, slide Nos. YS 18035, YS18036 .

Description. Adult ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Wingspan 12.0–13.0 mm.

Head greyish brown. Antenna with scape dark brown on dorsal surface, white on ventral surface; flagellum dark brown in basal 1/4, creamy white beyond with distinct dark brown annulations. Second segment of labial palpus deep brown, speckling with white scales, with relatively elongate, rough scales ventrally; third segment slender, much longer than second, deep brown.

Thorax and tegula greyish brown. Forewing with costal margin slightly arched before middle, oblique downward from beyond basal 4/5; basal streak on costal margin dark brown, reaching before 1/5 length of costal margin; ground color yellowish brown, markings dark brown: median patch irregularly shaped, reaching costal margin by a slender streak; discocellular stigma clavate, widened anteriorly; subterminal patch trapezoidal, its inner margin about 1/3 length of outer margin, outer margin extended from costal margin to dorsum, concave inwardly, edged with an orange-white line; narrow dark brown stripe extending from below discocellular stigma oblique downward to lower corner of subterminal patch; terminal zone pale orange, speckling with dense dark brown scales; black line from beyond subterminal patch along costal margin through termen to tornus, edged with orange-white along its inner margin; apex produced triangularly; termen obliquely straight; fringe with an orangeyellow basal line, a yellowish brown median band, and an orange-white subterminal line, grey terminally. Hindwing greyish brown; apex obtuse; fringe concolorous with that of forewing. Foreleg with femur and tibia white dorsally, brown ventrally, tibia with a brown band dorsally near apex; midleg with femur yellowish brown, tibia white, with two brown bands at base and middle respectively; tarsi of fore- and midlegs yellow except 1 st tarsus brown at middle dorsally, 2 nd and 3 rd tarsi brown at base dorsally; hindleg with femur yellowish brown, tibia pale yellow on inner surface, brown on outer surface, outer surface with long hair-like scales and a pale yellow band near apex, tarsi yellow except 1 st tarsus brown at middle dorsally, 2 nd and 3 rd tarsi brown dorsally.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 9–15 ). Uncus spatulate, dilated distally, rounded apically, deeply incised on anterior margin, sparsely setose, much exceeding basal plate of gnathos. Gnathos with basal plate sub-rectangular; median process slender, sickle-shaped, gently bent ventrad, pointed apically. Valva with basal half almost parallel sided, distal half finger-like; apex obtuse, with a small spine; costa nearly straight, oblique upward beyond 2/3; ventral margin with a large thorn-like process medially and dense, elongate setae beyond; sacculus broad basally, narrowly terminated at 1/3 length of ventral margin. Juxta semi-ovate; caudal margin straight; anterior margin with a papillate process at middle; latero-caudal arms slender, pointed apically, exceeding middle of tegumen. Vinculum expanded subtrapezoidally, sclerotized laterally. Aedeagus longer than valva, broad basally, slightly narrowed to obtuse apex; cornuti consisting of a band of clustered granules and six large, needle-like spines.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 16–20 ). Abdominal sternite VIII concave trapezoidally at middle on posterior margin. Apophyses anteriores short, approximately 1/3 length of apophyses posteriores. Antrum heavily sclerotized, uniformly broad. Ductus bursae twisted, wrinkled, broad basally, narrow distally; ductus seminalis arising from below antrum, with a cluster of denticles near base. Corpus bursae elongate, ovate, approximately half length of ductus bursae; signum fusiform, large, about half length of corpus bursae, with dense protuberances laterally.

Diagnosis. This new species distinctly differs from its congeners in the male genitalia by the valva uniformly wide in the basal half and bearing two processes, and the vinculum expanded sub-trapezoidally. The superficial characters especially the forewing pattern matches well with the genus Delptoplastis. Thus, we tentatively place it in the present genus.

Distribution. Malaysia (Sabah).

Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin spatul- and uncus, referring to the shape of the uncus in the male genitalia.
