Type species. Otiothops walckenaeri MacLeay, 1839 , by monotypy.

Remarks. Species belonging to Otiothops differ from other Otiothopinae by having dense claw tufts on tarsi II–IV and closely spaced posterior median eyes ( Platnick 1975; Piacentini et al. 2013). The genus is distributed from the West Indies and Panama to Argentina and Uruguay (except Chile) ( Piacentini et al. 2013; World Spider Catalog 2015).
