Murmidius convexus species group

Body elongate oval, weakly to moderately convex; anterior clypeal margin smooth; pronotum with lateral margins weakly convergent anterad; lateral and sublateral pronotal impressions absent; distance between mesocoxae shorter than between meso- and metacoxa and lateral regions of metaventrite between metaventral femoral line and metacoxa subquadrate to weakly elongate, covered with punctures much larger than those on median metaventral region; if lateral carinae of mesoventral plate are present, then area between them and mesocoxae not microreticulate; antennal club weakly elongate, 1.5 × as long as broad; tarsomeres 1–3 with short, inconspicuous setae; elytra lacking rows of punctures; hind wings functional.

This group comprises 11 species known to occur in the following regions: Oriental and sub-Oriental:? China, India, Japan (Okinawa Is), Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar; Neotropical: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay; Indian Ocean: Mascarene Islands; Pacific: Hawaiian Islands; Afrotropical: Cameroon, DR Congo, Ivory Coast, Republic of South Africa, Zambia.
