Genus Didymoglossum Desv. ( Desvaux 1827) View in CoL
The most diversified genus in the archipelago (7 spp.) is pantropical and clusters more than 30 species which are epiphytic or lithophytic, minute to medium-sized with long-creeping and rootless rhizomes bearing fronds that are usually entire to lobed and in some cases pinnatifid (rarely bi-pinnatifid to bipinnate). The laminae exhibit false veins parallel to true veins, at least for the Comorian species ( Fig. 2B, 2D View Fig. 2 ). The two described subgenera Didymoglossum and Microgonium (C.Presl) Ebihara & K.Iwats. are represented in the Comoros by three and four species, respectively.
