Description. Length (including wings): male 3.2mm.

Crown dull ochraceous, face mainly reddish brown with black tinge, transverse brown band across eye, anteclypeus yellowish, lora and genae white, ocelli reddish brown ( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 G, H). Pronotum brown. Mesoscutum dark brown, basal triangles black, lateral margins and scutellum yellowish. Forewing hyaline with brownish tinge, broad band along costa except a subapical oval area, black ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 F). Mesepimeron dark brown. Legs and hind tibial macrosetae yellowish.

Male genitalia. Pygofer with dorsoanterior margin rounded, posterior angle broadly rounded. Appendage of segment X slender spinelike, at 1/4th curved posteriorly and reaching posterior margin, in posterior view crossing midline. Subgenital plate with row of setae on dorsal margin ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 H). Style with a few setae on dorsal margin, apex pointed. Connective manubrium slender, central lobe triangular. Aedeagus apex rounded, with atrial region as long as shaft, dorsal region curved, with small triangle on dorsal margin; aedeagal shaft broad and rounded in basal half, gonopore narrow in ventral view ( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 F, G).

Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the mainly reddish brown face.

Material examined. Holotype: ♂, THAILAND, Chiang Mai Doi Chiang Dao WS Nature Trail, N19°24.187′ E98°55.312′, 491m, 2007-viii-28-ix-4, coll. Songkt ant Jagsu & Apichat Watwanich, Malaise trap ( QSBG). Paratype: 1♂, same data as holotype ( QSBG); 2♂♂, THAILAND, Chiang Mai Doi Chiang Dao WS Nature Trail, N19°24.187′ E98°55.312′, 491m, 2007-vii-31-viii-7, coll. Songkt ant Jagsu & Apichat Watwanich, Malaise trap ( QSBG); 1♂, THAILAND, Chiang Mai Doi Phahompok NP Headquarters, N19°57.961′ E99°9.355′. 569m, 2007- viii-1-7, coll. Wongchai P., Malaise trap ( INHS); 1♂, THAILAND, Chiang Mai Doi Phahompok NP Headquarters, N19°57.961′ E99°9.355′. 569m, 2007-vii-31-viii-1, coll. Wongchai P., Malaise trap ( INHS).

Remarks. This species is similar to B. scutellaris Baker , but differs in having the anteclypeus yellowish, lora and gena white, and aedeagus apex and base rounded.
