Distribution: BOLIVIA ( Blackwelder 1944, Krajčík 1998): Santa Cruz: Santa Cruz de la Sierra [type locality] ( Moser 1905, Ratcliffe 2010). ARGENTINA ( Blackwelder 1944, Krajčík 1998): Salta ( Bruch 1911a); Tobatirenda [= Tobantirenda], 4 exx. ( Ratcliffe 2010); Tucumán ( Bruch 1911a); Burruyacu 1 ex. ( Ratcliffe 2010); Buenos Aires: 8 exx. ( Ratcliffe 2010).

Material examined: PARAGUAY: Presidente Hayes: Costa Esmeralda, 23º 40’ S, 58º 29’ W, 18–23-I-2011, U. Drechsel leg., 1 female [ODIC] GoogleMaps ; ARGENTINA: Salta: 190_, C. Bruch, 2 exx. [CBBA] , one labeled “ Blaesia / subrugosa / Moser” [handwritten by Bruch]; Richter Collection, 1 ex. [MLPA] , Blaesia / subrugosa /Moser / determ. Moser”, “ Blaesia / subrugosa / Moser / det. B.C. Ratcliffe 2004 ”; Tobatirenda, 1 ex. [HAHC] (= Ratcliffe 2010) ; Martínez del Tineo, I-2010, E. Abadie leg., 1 female [EAPW] ; Formosa: without locality, 2010, Isaias Lange leg., 1 male, 1 female [LABA] , 2 males [EAPW] , 4-XII-2010, 1 male [ODIC].

Note: Both species of Blaesia seem to be allopatric, one in Bolivia and northern Argentina ( B. subrugosa ), and the other one in Uruguay and eastern Argentina ( B. atra ). Therefore, the records of B. atra from Salta and B. subrugosa from Buenos Aires need further verification.
