Distribution: ARGENTINA ( Blackwelder 1944): “Rioja, Nord-Argentinien” ( Schoch 1898b, Krajčík 1998).

Note: The species currently in the genus Desicasta are Neotropical in distribution, from Panama to northern South America ( Blackwelder 1944, Krajčík 1998) (Appendix II). The record of D. purpurascens from Argentina was repeated by Blackwelder (1944) and Krajčík (1998). Nevertheless, the type locality given by Schoch (1898b) needs a further verification. A locality named Rioja (not La Rioja) is located in the department San Martín, Peru.
