Genus Rattus Fischer, 1803 View in CoL
Today the genus is represented in Madagascar by two species: Rattus norvegicus (Berkenhout, 1769) , which is commensal; and R. rattus , found in all habitats of the island. In Children’s Cave the Rattus remains can be attributed whithout ambiguity to the widespread species R. rattus .
