Figs 1G, H View FIGURES 1 , 3J View FIGURES 3 , 4B View FIGURES 4 , 5 View FIGURES 5 A–D.

Brown with dark brown markings.

Crown short, about 4.4x as broad as long medially, not much produced in front of eyes.; frontoclypeus strongly convex in profile. Forewings not narrowed posteriorly, of similar width and broadly rounded posteriorly, 2.3x as long as wide. Hind wings present and pronotum convex in lateral view.

Female genitalia. Sternite VII with posterior margin broadly angularly excavated ( Fig. 4B View FIGURES 4 ). Valvula II with less acutely formed teeth with secondary dentition ( Fig. 5D View FIGURES 5 ).

Measurements. Female 4.2 mm long, 1.6 mm wide across eyes and 1.5 mm wide across posterolateral angels of pronotum.

Material examined. Holotype ♀, INDIA: Maharashtra: Matheran , 915m, 24.xi.1977, C.A. Viraktamath ( UASB).

Etymology. The species epithet refers to the type locality from where the holotype was collected.

Remarks. Although only known from the female, we feel justified in describing this species as new as it differs from all other species of Daimachus in having a short almost parallel sided crown and also it is the largest species known in the genus. However, its placement in the genus is tentative due to the unavailability of male specimens and it may represent a genus different from Daimachus .
