Thallosia Oldroyd, 1970: 315 View in CoL . Type species: Thallosia congoicola Oldroyd, 1970 View in CoL , by original designation. Oldroyd 1980: 348; Tsacas & Artigas 1994.
Diagnosis. In addition to the characters in the key, Thallosia is further distinguished sparse facial vestiture, and the sparse, short bristles below the proboscis.
Distribution. Subsaharan Africa (NE Democratic Republic of Congo, Gambia). Adults were collected at lights, malaise traps and in savanna woodlands during August and September.
Remarks. Thallosia , with only one species, remain unchanged since it was originally described. Tsacas & Artigas (1994) reviewed genus and provided the first illustrations of the terminalia of the sexes. The genus was based upon two specimens from equatorial Africa ( Fig. 107). There has been no new records of the species until Londt [In Press] confirmed the presence of the species in Gambia.
