Thirty-six species of Kempnyia are known from Brazil ( Froehlich 2011b; Avelino-Capistrano et al. 2013). The distribution of the genus is associated with the mountains of South and Central Brazil and probably occurs in nearby areas of Paraguay, Argentina, and Uruguay ( Froehlich 2011a, b). Recently, nymphs were recorded from southern Venezuela ( Derka et al. 2010). Four species of Kempnyia have been recorded from the Serra Bonita region, BA.
