Hexapinus simplex Rahayu & Ng, 2014 View in CoL

Hexapus sexpes View in CoL — Tesch 1918: 240 (part), pl. 17 fig. 1 (not Cancer sexpes Fabricius, 1898 ). Hexapinus simplex Rahayu & Ng, 2014: 418 View in CoL View Cited Treatment , figs. 1A–F, 18–21.

See Rahayu & Ng (2014: 418) for the complete synonymy.

Material examined. Indonesia: 1 male (8.3 x 4.9 mm), 1 young female (5.1 × 3.1 mm) (NNM-ZMA Crust De 241762a), station 258, Tual, Kei Islands, 22 m, coll. M. Webber, Siboga Expedition, 12–16 December 1899 (identified as Hexapus sexpes ).

Remarks. The two specimens from Kei Islands agree very well with the descriptions and figures of this wideranging species. The figure of the male abdomen by Tesch (1918: pl. 17 fig. 1b) is not very accurate as somite 6 is actually slightly longer in life, and similar to that figured by Rahayu & Ng (2014: fig. 21E). The record of Tesch (1918) is mixed as it actually contains two species, the other being Hexapinus latus (see below).
