Noteþ. – OEhef describifg this species& LOESENER (1901) was fot totally cofvifced that it was af Ilep species because feither of the two syftypes he meftiofed had flowers. Nevertheless& he described the vegetative parts afd compared the few species to I. paraguarienþiþ A. St.-Hil. afd I. nitida (Vahl) Maxim.
Both syftypes& Lagerheim þ.n. afd WarþzeƜicz þ.n. & were destroyed durifg OEOEII at B afd fo duplicates were located if afy cofsulted herbaria. Ofly a photo of WarþzeƜicz þ.n. at B is available at? [?0BN0B13215]. Neotypificatiof is therefore fecessary. Most specimefs seef are sterile& afd ofly a few have well developed flowers with duplicates preseft if several herbaria. Ofe of them& LaƜrance 559 & is desigfated here as the feotype.
Ifdicated if Brazil by LOIZEAU (1994: 179–180) of the basis of a sifgle collectiof (Prance et al. 7502 & NY& S& U) that belofgs to the family Celaþtraceae .
