Opopaea chunglinchaoi Barrion , Barrion- Dupo & Heong, new species [ Figure 23 A-I]

MALE: Holotype male, total length 1.39mm. Cephalothorax 0.60mm, width 0.44mm, height 0.31mm. Abdomen length 0.80mm, width 0.44mm, height 0.29mm.

Carapace. Yellow but darker in the cephalic area and black along eye margins, ovoid with truncated posterior end and concave viewed laterally. Chelicerae yellow, 2.5x longer than wide. Pedipalps concolorous with the yellow legs, maxillae, labium and sternum except black tarsus. Maxillae apically converging with flat anterior ends. Labium subtriangular, fused with sternum. Ovoid sternum with three pairs of slightly gray brown sclerotization opposite coxa II, between coxa II and III and opposite III.

Eyes. In two rows of two and four. Eye diameter (mm): AME (0.06)> PME=PLE (0.04). Clypeus height one-half AME diameter, median area with two pairs of bristles bisecting each other.

Legs. Yellow lined with short hairs except brownish basal one-third of tibiae I, II and III. Femur moderately enlarged, II as long as tibia IV. Patella III as long as tibia III. Tibia II, patella IV and metatarsus I subequal in length. Leg formula 4123.

Abdomen. Oblongate, yellow with a grayish spot posteriorly, nearly 2x longer than wide. Venter yellow except light brown openings and epigastric furrows.

Palpal organ with a robust femur, coxa borne on the basal 0.4 femoral length, tibia narrows on both ends and reproductive organ forceps-like.

FEMALE. Unknown.

Material Examined. Holotype male (coll. no.S082), CHINA, Hainan Island, Panja Town, Songtao Reservoir, 0 3 April 2011, ATBarrion, JLACatindig, SCVillareal; Paratypes: two females, same data as holotype.

Diagnostic Features. This new species resembles O. cornuta Ying & Wang, 1984 but differs from the latter in terms of (1) palpal structure and shape of epigastric fold, (2) arrangement of two pairs of bristles on the clypeus,(3) brown coloration of basal area of tibiae I, II and III, and (4) leg lengths, femur II as long as tibia IV, patella III and tibia III subequal, and tibia II, patella IV and metatarsus I equally long.

Etymology. Patronym, in honor of Dr. Chao Chunglin for his taxonomic work on the Lymantriidae of China.
