Comments. Mines formed by Calycomyza hyptisicola are similar to those formed by C. hyptidis . However, these species can be differentiated by the shape of the male genitalia. The shape of the aedeagus in C. hyptisicola is similar to that of C. lantanae and C. verbenae . However, the shape of the distiphallus and the presence of the subquadrate sclerite allows for differentiating this species from the others.
