Elachista planicara Kaila, 1998: 57 View in CoL , syn. nov.

Remarks. Elachista planicara was described from two female specimens collected on Kunashir Island in early August ( Kaila 1998). The original description and illustrations ( Kaila 1998: figs. 8–11) agree completely with the type specimens of Elachista sasae . Based on this evidence, E. planicara is considered a junior synonym of E. sasae . Elachista sasae was described from the southern part of Sakhalin Island in the second half of July and to date is known only from the type locality. Hence, Kunashir Island is a new distributional record for this species.
