Pachymetopius anamikus View in CoL sp. nov.

Figs 6 View FIGURES 6 A–D, G–H, 7 A–H, 8 A–G.

Male coloration. Dark chocolate brown. Crown with two yellow anterior marginal spots on either side of median line, one central slightly elongate spot and one spot on posterior mesal margin of eye, yellow. Face with dorsal marginal transverse band, yellow. Antennae paler, labium pale yellow. Mesonotum with one small marginal spot laterad of scuto-scutellar suture and apical spot, yellow. Forewing with five hyaline spots on costal margin, second from base rectangular extending inwards beyond claval suture, remaining somewhat triangular progressively enlarged distally. Apices of claval veins, basal spot on appendix, outer margin of forewing including distal margins of apical cells medially and a few spots on apical cells hyaline. Fore and middle tibiae, tarsi, parts of hind coxae and tarsi, pale yellow.

Female coloration. Similar to that of male but darker colors on head replaced by reddish brown and on pronotum, mesonotum and forewing clavus by greyish brown with black granular spots. Forewings dark reddish brown with more extensive hyaline areas ( Fig. 6A C View FIGURES 6 ).

Structure. Fore margin of head transversely carinate. Crown about as long medially as broad between eyes posterior margin with median notch. Pronotum as long as crown but shorter than mesonotum, posterior margin concave, lateral margins carinate and widening posteriorly. Both pronotum, mesonotum and forewing covered with short pale setae.

Male genitalia. Pygofer without anterior apodemes, longer than height in lateral view, macrosetae on posterior 0.66 region, mesal process C-shaped arising on dorsal margin and reaching posterior margin of pygofer; inner sclerotized process not exceeding pygofer outer margin. Valve somewhat transverse, posterior margin medially produced and angulate. Subgenital plate devoid of macrosetae, about as long as pygofer in lateral view. Style with inner fork of apophysis thinner and shorter than outer fork, both transversely rugose. Connective Y-shaped with short arms and long broad stem. Aedeagus with well-developed paired preatrium, dorsal apodeme short, shaft with short spine-like lateral processes arising at about midlength, in lateral view apex of shaft slightly widened near apex. Segment X large, about 2 x as long as broad in dorsal view.

Female genitalia. Sternite VII completely divided into two lobes ( Fig. 8 C View FIGURES 8 ). First pair of valvulae very slightly curved, dorsal sculpturing strigate occupying distal 0.75 length, strigae oblique and reaching dorsal margin. Second pair of valvulae almost straight, toothed area occupying distal 0.66 length with basal hyaline area, each tooth closely placed and saw-like.

Measurements. Male 5.3 mm long, 1.3 mm wide across eyes and 1.6–1.7 mm wide across posterolateral angles of pronotum. Female 5.7–6.0 mm long, 1.4 mm wide across eyes and 1.8–1.9 mm wide across posterolateral angles of pronotum.

Material examined. Holotype male, INDIA: Assam: Jorhat: Lahdoigarh , 8.vi.2010, ex Persea bombycina, S.G. Eswara Reddy & Rajesh kumar ( UASB) . Paratypes: INDIA: Assam: 3 females, data as for holotype ; 1 male, 2 females, data as for holotype but collected on 7.vi.2010 ( UASB) .

Remarks. This species can be readily recognised by the presence of lateral processes on the aedeagal shaft and the thinner mesal pygofer process arising from the dorsal margin. P. dentatus Wei, Webb & Zhang and P. nanjingensis Wei, Webb & Zhang also have lateral processes on the aedeagal shaft but the former has mesal pygofer processes forked distally and the latter has these processes broader and also they differ in the coloration. The unidentified female specimen of this genus from Darjeeling ( India: West Bengal) recorded by Wei et al. (2010) is possibly the female of this species.
