Notes: Fain (1966a) designated Sarcoptes laevis var. gallinae Railliet, 1887 as the type species of Neocnemidocoptes . Fain (1974) then elevated gallinae to the species level and confirmed that Sarcoptes gallinae is the type species of Neocnemidocoptes Fain, 1966a . Sarcoptes laevis Railliet, 1885 is a senior synonym of Picicnemidocoptes dryocopae Pence, 1972 , the type species of Picicnemidocoptes Pence, 1972 .
