Caissa Hering, 1931 View in CoL , in Seitz, Macrolep. world, 10: 670, 700. Type species: Caissa caissa Hering, 1931 View in CoL
Male antenna simple. Labial palpus somewhat appressed upcurved, not quite reaching to vertex. Hind tibia with 2 pair of spurs. Forewing with R1 straight, R2–4 stalked, or R2 from same place with stem of R3 and R4 at upper angle of cell, R5 separated from them, but mostly from the same place or stalked. Hindwing with Rs and M1 from same place at upper angle of cell ( Fig. 9).
In male genitalia gnathos varied; uncus ventrally with a small subapical process; juxta usually produced apically; sacculus terminating in a spine; aedeagus with plate or spines. In female genitalia ductus bursae narrow and long, spiral; corpus bursae with a lenticular array of numberous stellate signa.
The genus is similar to Ceratonema Hampson in the antenna, spurs of tibia and venation, but differs from the latter by the hindwing with M1 and Rs arise from the same place or stalked. It is related to Narosa Walker in the male and female genitalia, but differs from the latter by the forewing with R1 straight rather than curved. This genus is characterized by forewing with a broad dark medial band from costa to inner margin and the valva with a saccular process.
Distribution: China, India, Nepal, Myanmar.
