Type material (4). Holotype: 1 male: 10 mi. W. El Salto; Dgo. MEX. 29.VI.1964; J.E.H. Martin/ HOLOTYPE; C. lloydi ; new species; Ferreira det. 2020 ( CNC). Paratypes: 3 males: 24 mi. W. La Ciudad; Dgo. MEX. VI. 22.64; H.F. Howden/ PARATYPE; C. lloydi ; new species; Ferreira det. 2020 ( CNC).
Etymology. This species is named in honor of Dr. James E. Lloyd, Professor Emeritus from the University of Florida, who has spent 56 years studying fireflies and their behavior, especially in the genus Photuris . Professor Lloyd passed away on 18 July 2020. It is our privilege to name this species in his honor for his dedication and contributions to the study of Lampyridae .
