Body (male): Length: 4.6–4.8 mm; crown length: 0.25–0.26 mm; crown projection: 0.10 mm; crown projection ratio: 0.38–0.40; head length (including eyes): 0.54–0.58 mm; interoccular width: 0.50 mm; head width (including eyes): 0.94–0.97 mm; pronotum width: 0.87–0.92 mm; pronotum length: 0.46–0.51mm; face length: 1.29–1.32 mm; hind tibia length: 1.96– 1.95mm; hind tarsus length: 0.68–0.69 mm; hind tarsomere I length: 0.46–0.54 mm; hind tarsomere I/hind tarsus ratio: 0.67–0.79.

Closely resembling E. peba n. sp. except pygofer process in lateral view shorter and less strongly curved than in E. peba ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 a); in caudo-ventral view, short, angled mediad from base (not bowed strongly mediad nor crossing at midline); apically constricted, thence expanded, thence tapered to a narrow point - producing a “candle-flame” appearance ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 i).

Holotype male: PERU Pasco Yanachaga- / Chemillén NP 10° 32’ 39.7” S / 75° 22’ 0.1” W 2300 m / Takiya, Peña & Rakitov / Malaise acr. R. San Alberto // PSS RESEARCH / 09-271-1 // HOLOTYPE / Empoasca / affinipeba n. sp. / Southern & Dietrich ( USML). Paratypes: 7 males, same collection data as holotype (INHS— 4 specimens, NCSU— 3 specimens).

Etymology: This specific name, affinipeba , refers to the close relationship to E. peba n. sp. and is a feminine noun in apposition.

Diagnosis: This species apparently cannot be distinguished from E. peba n. sp. based on external markings and most internal characters of the genitalia and abdomen. However, the short, weakly curved pygofer processes differ markedly from the long, strongly bowed processes of E. peba . See the description of E. peba for additional discussion of relationships.
