( Figs. 5 View FIGURE 5 A–E)

Lecithocera ankasokella Viette, 1968: 89 View in CoL . TL: Lakato.

Type. 1♂ (holotype), East Madagascar, road to Lakato, at km 15, Ankasoka, alt. 1,100 m, 2–10 i 1959, P. Viette leg.; Lecithocera ankasokella n. sp., Holotype, P. Viette; genitalia: prep. J. Minet no. 1662.

Adult ( Figs. 5A, B View FIGURE 5 ). Wingspan, 22.5 mm. This species is superficially similar to Torodora hiarakella ( Viette, 1988) , especially in the forewing colour pattern with orange-white costal band along margin, however, it can be distinguished from the latter by having two small, triangular costal patches beyond half. Hind wing has M 2 present, M 3 and CuA 1 stalked. Abdominal segments ( Fig. 5E View FIGURE 5 ) have strong spines triangularly distributed on segment II–VII dorsally, but rare in the segment I and not in VIII.

Male genitalia ( Figs. 5C, D View FIGURE 5 ): Uncus narrowly elongated, with an expansion medially. Valva broad basally; costa strongly concaved; ventral margin emarginated before cucullus; cucullus narrow basally, then slightly broadened distally with rounded outer margin. Juxta large, without caudal lobes. Aedeagus slender, as long as valva; cornuti consist of numerous spinules in a long sac.

Remarks. The species was originally described, based on a single specimen, but the genitalia of the holotype was not dissected by Viette (1968) and the third author dissected and illustrated for the first time.

Distribution. Madagascar (East) (Viette, 1968).
