Redescription. Male. Body length 8.8–9.7 mm, width across humeri 1.6–2.0 mm. Body dorsal surface and venter of thorax golden; varying with green, bronze, bronze-green or black undertones, shiny ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 1 – 7 ) or dull ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 1 – 7 ). Pygidium reddish brown. Legs tan or ferruginous. Antennae color same as legs. Dorsum moderately setose, setae on head and pronotum yellowish brown to blackish brown, some individuals with longer robust setae intermixed on pronotum; elytral surface evenly and moderately covered with short, robust whitish brown to yellowish brown setae sparsely intermixed with about 4–31 times longer stout, semi-erect setae along margins and apical part of elytra. Head: Surface densely rugopunctate; each puncture with a short, thin seta. Anterior margin of labrum weakly bilobed with anterolateral angles rounded. Clypeus rectangular, longitudinally weakly convex medially, slightly widened basally; anterior angle rounded; margins of clypeus thinly beaded. Clypeofrontal suture slightly bent medially, poorly defined. Frons flat, slightly narrowed basally. Eye canthi fringed with long, blackish brown setae. Antenna with 10 antennomeres, club with terminal antennomere inwardly curved and inner two club antennomeres straight; club subequal in width to length of antennomeres 2–7. Thorax: Pronotum widest at middle, elongate round in shape; anterior angles moderately protruding with basolateral angles rounded, lateral margin slightly explanate on basal one-thirds, middle of basal margin emarginate; setiferous rugopunctures densely distributed over surface with larger, well-defined, deep punctures sparsely intermixed; each puncture bearing with a semierect/erect long, stout seta. Scutellum elongate triangular with lateral margins slightly or moderately raised. Prosternal process ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 8 – 10 ) protruding with inner margin slightly concave; metasternum with midline ridged, well defined; setae on discal center apparently shorter laterad. Elytra: Disc gradually flattened apically when viewed laterally; disc surface densely rugopunctate, longitudinally slightly concave medially; ridge-like epipleura thinly developed, gradually explanate apically. Abdomen: Pygidial width 1.2–1.3 times length medially; disc flat, covered with long setae. Sternites 1–6 with surface densely setose, setae sparsely intermixed with stout, erect setae. Legs: Protibia tridentate, basal teeth vestigial. Protarsi pectinate with tarsomeres 1–4 strongly condensed in length. Surface of profemora, mesofemora and metafemora densely covered with setae intermixed with longer setae. Mesotibiae and metatibiae with stout setae along sides becoming dense apically, setae on inner side of tibia intermixed with thinner setae. Metatarsomeres 2–5 with dorsal margin of apex fringed with white setae. Mesotibia fringed with apical spurs, spurs not strongly protruding; basal mesotarsomere 1.0–1.1 times as long as second mesotarsomere. Male genitalia: Parameres ( Figs. 12 View FIGURES 11 – 13 , 16, 17 View FIGURES 14 – 19 ) symmetrical. Basal piece extension reaching base of parameres ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 11 – 13 ). Ventral plate ( Fig. 21 View FIGURES 20 – 22. 20 ) of genital capsule narrowly widened with margins rounded, smooth; median stria weakly developed basally. Temones weakly twisted and fused apically, minor sclerite transversally lying within base of flagellum, flagellum separated at apical one-third, gradually widened basally, shorter than paramere ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 24 – 26 ).

Female ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 1 – 7 ). Body length 10.5 mm, width 2.7 mm. Similar to male with same body color pattern, differing in the following characters: overall body more robust; antennal club less half in length of stem; margins of clypeus completely beaded, anterior margin perpendicularly reflexed; apex of mesotibia bearing two spines without incision; pygidium smaller in size; mesotarsi and metatarsi more robust and shorter.

Diagnosis. Amphicoma aurata can be separated by (1) smaller body size, 8.8–9.7 mm in length; (2) dorsal surface and venter of thorax golden varying with green, bronze, bronze-green or black undertones, legs tan or ferruginous; (3) anterior margin of labrum weakly bilobed; (4) clypeus weakly convex centrally; (5) clypeofrontal suture slightly bended medially, not well defined; (6) antennal club subequal in length to antennomeres 2–7; (7) surface of pronotum with larger, well-defined, sparsely intermixed, deep punctures; (8) inner margin of prosternal process slightly concave; (9) midline of metasternum ridged, setae on discal center shorter laterad; (10) epipleura thinly developed, gradually explanate apically; (11) pygidial width 1.2–1.3 times length medially; (12) basal piece extension reaching base of paramere; (13) ventral plate of genital capsule with margins rounded, smooth; (14) median stria weakly developed basally; (15) flagellum separated at apical one-third, gradually widened basally, shorter than paramere.

Distribution. Taiwan.

Remarks. Amphicoma aurata is a common glaphyrid in Taiwan with adults that frequent flowers and are widely distributed throughout the Central Montane Ranges of Taiwan and the adjacent mountains ranging from 200–1800 m in elevation. The temporal distribution of A. aurata is from the end of February in the lowlands of southern Taiwan to early August at higher elevations. Most specimens have been found in the forest canopy.
