Type species: Ecnomodes buchwaldi Ulmer , by replacement.

The genus Eodipseudopsis was described based on a female specimen by Marlier (1959) and placed into the subfamily Dipseudopsinae . It was subsequently and provisionally placed in the Polycentropodidae by Weaver and Malicky (1994). Three characters support the placement in the Polycentropodidae : (1) Female sternum VIII divided into 2 lateral lobes or plates (undivided in Dipseudopsidae , including Pseudoneureclipsinae). (2) Antennae slender, with scapes set distantly from each other (scapes are closely set in Dipseudopsidae ). (3) Long, slender lobe of the scent gland of sternum V present, uncharacteristic of dipseudopsid females Dipseudopsis , Hyalopsyche , Phylocentropus .

Diagnosis: The spur formula is 3,4,4. Maxillary palps each have subequal 1st and 2nd segments, each of these segments is much shorter than the 3rd segment; the 3rd segment originates subapically on the subapicolateral surface of the 2nd segment, resulting in a mesoapical lobe that is mainly cushion-shaped. The forewings each have a closed discoidal cell and a closed median cell, the hind wing cells are all open, except in P. papei Johanson & Ward. However , there are species with a closed discoidal cell in each hind wing and an open median cell in each forewing. The forewings each have apical forks 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5; the hind wings each have apical forks 2 and 5. However, there are species that lack apical fork 5 in each hind wing. The gonopods are mostly robust; short or long, simple or complex.
