Specimens examined: Lectotype: 3. Java occident, Mons Tjikorai, 4000 1892, H. Fruhstorfer, Strotocera grandis Schklg, Cotype, Grandis n. sp. Schklg. (RMNH).

Paralectotype: Pontianak, Borneo, Holl., Syntypus, Coll. Strotocera Schenkling (3, DEI).

Others: Semarang, Drescher, 12 1905, Schenkling det., coll. DEI Müncheberg, Strotocera grandis Schklg. (1 ex., DEI); Sibulangit, Sumatra 7/87, Strotocera grandis (1 ex., CRG); Ranau, Sabah, Malaysia, EX. 2000 (2 ex., CRG); Sumatra, Born., Schenkling det. (1 ex., DEI); Java, Collect. Plason, Schenkling det. (1 ex., DEI).

Length: 19mm – 21mm (8 specimens).

Head: Black, very densely and finely punctate.

Antennae: Black; not reaching base of pronotum when laid alongside; A4–A10 serrate. Pronotum: Apex black, then reddish brown, posterior margin narrowly black, slightly dilated anteriorly, constricted towards base, coarsely wrinkled; length:width ratio 1.55.

Scutellum: Red-brown to dark brown.

Elytra: Base narrowly black, anterior disc reddish brown, posterior disc to apex black with yellow convex transverse fasciae spanning from lateral to sutural margins (not always reaching suture); diameter of punctures smaller than interstices, punctures elongate behind fasciae; length:width ratio 2.48:1. Legs: Black, with light brown pulvilli.

Lower surface: Head black laterally, red-brown medially, thorax red-brown, abdomen black. Vestiture: With long whitish to reddish hairs.

Distribution: Indonesia (Java, Borneo, Sumatra), Malaysia (Borneo, Sabah).
