Recently, the first record of the invasive Nearctic bug species
Leptoglossus occidentalis Heidemann, 1910 View in CoL
( Heteroptera : Coreidae ) for the Canary Islands ( Spain) was reported from the island of Gran Canaria ( LUGO et al., 2023). Shortly after, the first record of the species for the island of La Gomera was reported ( VAN DER HEYDEN, 2023).
Herein, the first record of L. occidentalis for the island of Tenerife is reported: On 12-10- 2024, an adult specimen was found near the road between the Mirador Diseminado Casas de La Cumbre and the Ermita San José Obrero in the northern part of the island. Two photographs of the specimen were uploaded to the online database iNaturalist (see here).
