Aphantes D. S. Fletcher View in CoL (Figs 392–398)
The monotypic genus Aphantes is restricted to southern Australia. The eggs of A. melanochorda Turner are distinctive and resemble those of Gastrina Guenée and Nisista Walker. Features in common are: conspicuous cell form on all eggs surfaces, flat to slightly concave cell floors, doubleridged cell walls (present in two Nisista species only) and conspicuous, domed aeropyles with large to extremely large openings. This group also shares these characteristics as well as the deeply pitted chorion observed in Aphantes with the macariine genera described below.
