Thecidellina maxilla (Hedley, 1899) View in CoL

( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 )

This is one of two thecideide brachiopods in the studied material. All thecideides are small, living cemented directly to the substratum by their ventral valve. Thecidellina maxilla is reported for the first time from the Norfolk Ridge but was already noted from the vicinity of the island of New Caledonia ( Laurin 1997; Bitner 2007a). It was found in two samples from Crypthelia seamount and in one sample from Kaimon Maru (see Tables 1, 2) at 200–392 m ( Fig. 14 View FIGURE 14 ). Thecidellina maxilla is widely distributed in the Western and Central Pacific ( Thomson 1927; Cooper 1954; Pajaud 1970; Zezina 1985; Lee & Robinson 2003; Bitner 2007b, 2008).
